WUGA: Georgia lawmakers continue push to make Ocmulgee Mounds Georgia's first national park
After more than a century of effort, Georgia is closer than ever to getting its first national park. A rare display of bipartisan unity has nearly the entire Georgia congressional delegation backing legislation to upgrade the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park. The proposal aims to expand the site to approximately 10,000 acres, adding a federally managed preserve for public hunting and fishing.
