Savannah Now: Georgia's congressional delegation calls truce to collaborate on national attraction

A rare bipartisan effort is underway in Georgia's congressional delegation to establish the state's first national park at the Ocmulgee Mounds in Macon. The proposal would expand the current historical park into a 10,000-acre National Park and Preserve, a move projected to create thousands of jobs and generate over $200 million in annual economic activity. With broad support from local government, businesses, and the Muscogee Nation, the century-old dream of elevating the ancient site to national park status is closer than ever to becoming a reality.
