Macon Telegraph: Ossoff ‘cautiously optimistic’ that Ocmulgee Mounds will become a national park

Senator Jon Ossoff remains hopeful that the bipartisan bill to designate the Ocmulgee Mounds as Georgia's first national park will succeed. Although the legislation was delayed last year due to Hurricane Helene relief efforts, it has been reintroduced with strong bipartisan support. Ossoff anticipates a Senate committee will reconsider the proposal in the coming weeks, and he is "cautiously optimistic" about its progress. The designation is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the region through increased tourism, as well as preserve important cultural and natural resources.
