Yesterday and today’s Macon Telegraph includes two pieces on efforts to bring National Park and Preserve designation to Middle Georgia. The article in the Telegraph includes information on:

  • economic benefits of gaining National Park and Preserve status
  • protection of wildlife habitats, including one of three black bear populations in Georgia
  • why Preserve designation is important
  • protecting the boundaries of Robins Air Force Base

The second piece focusing on efforts to bring National Park and Preserve status to Middle Georgia features a Letter to the Editor from the National Park Conversation Association. This organization has been a partner and supporter of our efforts at ONPPI. The letter in today’s paper points out that  proposed park and preserve area is rich in history, culture, wildlife, and recreational opportunities, in addition to increased economic gains which would result from National Park and Preserve status.
